Covid-19 in ES: “We are experiencing a rapid phase of acceleration of cases and deaths”

Regarding deaths, Fernandes affirms that of the 55 deaths from Covid-19 in ES, the majority were (31) women, which represents 56.3% of the total. “Thirty-seven (67.27%) reside in municipalities of the Metropolitan Region, 29 in private hospitals (52.7%), followed by 14 in the public network (25.45%),” he published.

In terms of the number of cases, there were 3,517 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The data is from the Covid-19 Panel, from the State Department of Health (Sesa), updated on Monday afternoon (28). To date, the state of Espírito Santo has recorded a total of 4,996 deaths from the disease and 242,553 infected people.

In this regard, the secretary stated that, of the total number of new cases (in 24 hours), 2,062 were reported by Sesa: “of a total of 3,246 tests in 24 hours, Lacen-ES tested by RT-PCR 2,158 and 1,088 accredited private laboratories, with an overall positivity of 63.5% ”, he stated.

The Covid-19 numbers are still high: this time, the number of hospitalized patients reached 1,042 people this Monday (28), which represents 79.97% of the occupation of available beds. The index exceeds the bed occupancy published on Sunday (27), when 1,002 beds were being occupied by patients with complications of the disease, according to the panel of the State Department of Health (Sesa).

This is the second time that Espírito Santo begins the week with more than a thousand hospitalized patients, and last Monday (21) there were 1,050 people in the ICU and open hospital units.

Of the total hospitalizations today (28), 545 people are in the ICU and 497 in wards. In percentage figures, they represent 82.83% and 77.05%, respectively, of the occupation of available places in the State.

Since December 17, ICU admissions have surpassed the 500-patient mark. Despite the variation that has occurred, maintenance above this number has not occurred in the State since the beginning of August, when on day 3 there were 514 hospitalizations in Intensive Care Units.
