BRASÍLIA – On Christmas Eve, President Jair Bolsonaro dedicated his live broadcast on social networks to attack the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, to defend the weapons and say that he will not be responsible for the secondary effects of the vaccines against Covid- 19. distributed by the government.

– I’m not responsible for anyone. After all, I am not the one who has to take responsibility for the medication – Bolsonaro said.

During the broadcast that lasted approximately one hour and 20 minutes, Doria was the president’s preferred target, even without mentioning the governor of São Paulo by name.

– I want a well-armed citizen. With well-armed people, this joke of “everyone is going to stay at home and I’m going to go to Miami. For the love of God. Oh … tight panties! This is not a man’s thing. São Paulo closes and goes out for a walk in Miami. It’s something for those who have tight panties. This is a crime – Bolsonaro said.

The statement was a mention of João Doria’s trip to Miami on Christmas Eve, where he was seen going to a store without masks, in contradiction with the recommendation that the governor of São Paulo has been making since the beginning of the Covid-19.

The case came up and prompted Doria to post a video apologizing to the people of São Paulo. According to him, the trip to Florida consisted of attending two conferences to which he had been invited.

Bolsonaro used the broadcast to again question the safety of the vaccines being developed against Covid-19. He said he would insist on the need for people who decide to take it to sign a term of responsibility.

– I will not accept a vaccine that is not properly tested, which is in the experimental phase. I won’t be responsible. Nothing may happen. The vaccine may achieve its goals. I cannot be responsible – said the president.

Currently, no laboratory that develops vaccines against Covid-19 has requested the registration of the product with the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The federal government has pledged to purchase at least 254 million doses of vaccine as long as they are approved by the agency.

Meanwhile, countries like the United Kingdom and the United States have already begun vaccinating their population. In Latin America, Mexico, Argentina and Chile should be the first to be immunized against the disease.

Later, in a softer tone on the radio and television network, the president said that he sympathized with the relatives of the victims of Covid-19.

– On that occasion, I especially sympathize with the families who lost their loved ones this year. I express my feelings, asking God to comfort everyone’s heart – he said.

Bolsonaro also took advantage of the broadcast on his social networks to defend the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Kássio Nunes Marques, the first designated by him to fill a vacancy in the Court.

Bolsonaro defended decisions made by the minister that have been the subject of controversy in recent weeks, such as the one that suspended an article of the Clean Registry Law that determines that the eight-year period of disqualification of those convicted by collegiate bodies enters into force after serving the sentence. The decision was seen by critics as a relaxation that would favor politicians from “dirty backgrounds.”

– Too many laws get in the way. But he (Kássio) did not end the Clean Record law. Without wanting to defend the STF minister, Kassio Nunes, but he defined only the beginning of time (due to ineligibility). As a result, if they say: “Ah … I no longer vote for Bolsonaro. Look who he put (in the STF) ”. Patience. I’m sorry. I can’t force you to vote for me. You own your vote, ”he said.

Bolsonaro also said that the next nominee for a vacancy at the STF will follow the same “standard” as Kássio Nunes Marques.

At the end of the broadcast, Bolsonaro received a visit from the Brazilian artist Romero Brito, known internationally for his paintings painted in strong colors and the use of geometric shapes in the composition of faces and landscapes.
