Six bars and restaurants in Belo Horizonte were authorized by the Justice of Minas Gerais to sell and allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages within the establishments. The precautionary measure was granted by Judge Maurício Leitão Linhares, of the First Court of Feitos da Fazenda Pública of BH.
The establishments presented orders to judge individual decisions and received the precautionary measures with the positive endorsement on Friday (18). Consumption was prohibited by decree of the city council on December 7 due to the pandemic.
Felipe Andrade is a lawyer and represents one of the bars that contemplated the decision. It explains about the precautionary measure, which does not extend to all establishments. “It is only a decision that can still be appealed and is conditional on compliance with all health standards that have already been imposed by the Belo Horizonte City Council. Since yesterday after the publication of the decision, the Bar Association has been operating in compliance with all health standards and protocols ”.
Andrade says that the decree that prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in establishments is “severely disproportionate” and that the cases must be analyzed individually. We believe that each case must be analyzed, each bar and restaurant must verify that they offer and respect all the protocols that the city is demanding ”.
In a statement, the Belo Horizonte City Council said it had not yet been notified of the decision.
