The Regional Electoral Tribunal (TRE) of Minas Gerais certified the victory of the elected mayor, federal deputy Margarida Salomão (PT), and also of the deputy mayor, today councilor Kennedy Ribeiro (PV).
During the event, Margarida affirmed that she has an agreement with the Butantan Institute for the acquisition of one million doses of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the institute. “I want to take this opportunity to make an announcement that expresses our commitment to the people of Juiz de Fora. Yesterday (Thursday) we drafted, as mayor-elect and representing the municipality of Juiz de Fora, a memorandum of understanding with the Butantan Foundation for the supply of one million vaccines from January 2021 ”.
The mayor-elect pointed out that “the first purpose is to honor and adhere to the national vaccination program.” “But, faced with any delay or difficulty on the part of this program, we have already prepared an alternative, whose technical and logistical feasibility will still be announced by our Secretary of Health (Ana Pimentel), said the mayor.
Margarida thanked former deputy Marcus Pestana, who, according to her, was in charge of mediating the conversations with Butantan.

The mayor-elect even showed the memorandum signed with the institute and reportedly read excerpts from the document. “The opportunity and convenience of Butantan to supply one million doses of finished product of the Covid-19 vaccine in multi-dose vials, of ten doses per bottle, to the Municipality of Juiz de Fora for its distribution in the geographical space of that Municipality is agreed , given the local population. This amount is available from January 2021, ”he said.
The PT said that the vaccine appears as a light at the end of the tunnel at a time of concern about the increase in rates in the city. “At this moment, the pandemic in Juiz de Fora presents alarming figures. Both the incidence and the number of deaths. At the same time, we understand that people are tired and suffering the effects of a serious economic crisis, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic. With all this, vaccination is a great hope ”.

In the same session, the 19 councilors who won seats at the polls also graduated to occupy the 19 seats of the Juiz de Fora City Council in the 2021/2024 Legislature.
