The index of Brazilians who do not intend to be vaccinated against COVID-19 increased in recent months and has already reached 22%, according to a survey by the Datafolha Institute released by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo this Saturday, 12. The percentage is much higher than the 9% who had declared negative to the immunizer in a survey carried out in August, also by Datafolha.
In the most recent survey, conducted between December 8 and 10, with 2,016 adult Brazilians in all regions and states of the country, in addition to 22% undecided, 73% of those interviewed said they adhere to vaccination and another 5% undecided.
Research also reveals that although there is little difference in responses based on gender, age, or education, rejection can vary greatly depending on the source of the vaccine.
The greatest resistance is related to an immunizer developed in China, which would not be accepted by 47% of those surveyed. Vaccine negatives from the US, England, and Russia were 23%, 26%, and 36%, respectively.
Resistance to immunization is also higher among those who say they trust the president Jair bolsonaro. He had previously criticized Coronavac, a vaccine developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, in association with the Butantan Institute, and has been against mandatory vaccination.
According to the survey, the rate of Brazilians who do not intend to get vaccinated ranged from 16% among those who never trust Bolsonaro to 33% among those who said they always trust the president.
The margin of error for the survey is two percentage points. It was done through telephone interviews, which, according to Datafolha, requires quick questionnaires, without the use of visual stimuli, and therefore must have your data carefully analyzed.
