For the first time, the Controlled Distance map shows regions with a very high epidemiological risk classification, that is, a black flag. The ranking was driven by the steady reduction in free ICU beds and the increase in coronavirus contagion and hospitalization cases. The Bagé and Pelotas regions were classified in the final black flag in the preliminary map of round 32, published on Friday (11).

Of the other 19 regions, only Cruz Alta received the final orange flag classification. In the region covered by the Sinos Group portals, the blocks led by Novo Hamburgo, Taquara, Canoas, Caxias do Sul and Capão da Canoa are classified as having high epidemiological risk. The Taquara region showed a deterioration from the previous week, as it was classified as medium risk.

The black flag is the maximum restriction provided by the controlled distance model, and it means that both hospital capacity and coronavirus infection have reached critical levels in the region. If the classification remains on the final map to be released on Monday (14), the strictest restrictions will apply in the Bagé and Pelotas regions as of Tuesday (15).

Co-management remains suspended until Monday (14), the expiration date of the decree. The Government will announce any maintenance or new measures when the final map is published.

Maximum alert

The moment is extremely alert: Rio Grande do Sul observed an increase in almost all the indicators monitored by the Controlled Distance team. There was an increase, in the last seven days, of 14% in hospitalizations for Covid-19 (from 1,174 to 1,338 cases), which reached the highest number since the start of follow-up.
It is also the highest number of patients in the ICU, in clinical beds and in deaths. Deaths grew 15% this week, reaching 409 records. As a result, there is the lowest number of free beds (407) in the State, as well as the lowest proportion of free beds for each worker (0.44), which went from 0.5 also for the first time. Therefore, the state government reinforces the need for the population to follow the health protocols and standards established by the model.

Rule 0-0

Some municipalities may adopt orange flag protocols because they meet the criteria of Rule 0-0, that is, they have no record of death or hospitalization of residents in the last 14 days, provided the city creates a local regulation.
It is worth remembering that the rule is only valid for municipalities in red flag regions, so that they can adopt orange flag protocols. In other words, the rule does not apply to municipalities in regions with a black and orange flag.

See which cities in the region can adopt flexibility: Rolling, Riozinho, São José do Hortêncio, Brochier, Harmonia, Alto Feliz, Bom Princípio, Linha Nova and São Vendelino.
