The Secretary of Culture, Mário Frias, had to be rushed to a hospital in Brasilia on Friday afternoon (11). The actor suffered a heart attack, according to the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom).
Secom also reported that the secretary is performing a catheterization at this time. The procedure is done in two stages. At first, the patient is examined to see if there is any problem or disease in the circulatory system. After that, if a blockage is identified, a stent is placed, which holds the arterial walls open, showing the location of the problem.
“We report that the Secretary of Culture, Mário Frias, was admitted to the Santa Luzia hospital, in Brasilia, this Friday afternoon (11), with a heart attack. At this time, the secretary is undergoing a catheterization procedure, ”said the note released by the secretary.
The actor entered the Department of Culture on June 19. Mário succeeded actress Regina Duarte.
