The Rio de Janeiro government plans to vaccinate more than 3.5 million people against covid-19. The vaccine application plan, divided into four stages, prioritizes people in risk groups and public servants of essential categories, such as health professionals, members of the public force and the penitentiary system.
The information on the vaccination plan was anticipated by the newspaper “O Globo” and confirmed by Twitter by the Secretary of State for Health of Rio, Carlos Alberto Chagas. According to him, the network is already structuring itself to immediately apply the vaccines.
“When the vaccines are defined, we will have the network ready to start immediately, whether in December, January or at any other time,” he guaranteed.
No vaccination date
Rio has no date to start the vaccination, as it is still waiting for the approval of an immunizing agent by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency). Once the vaccine is available, the idea is to immunize 3,564,025 people, in four stages.
Group 1 (1,032 million immunized):
- Elderly older than 75 years or older;
- Healthcare professionals;
- People aged 60 to 74 years who live in nursing homes and psychiatric;
- Indigenous population;
Group 2 (1.5 million immunized):
- Elderly between 60 and 74 years;
Group 3 (763 thousand immunized):
- People with comorbidities;
Group 4 (239 thousand immunized):
- Teachers;
- Members of the public security and rescue forces;
- Servants of the prison system;
- Inmates in the prison system
Purchase of supplies
According to the SES (State Department of Health), a tender procedure for the purchase of syringes to be used in the vaccination campaign against the new coronavirus has already been completed, and the state should receive 8 million units within ten days. . A second batch with the same number of syringes will be delivered in January, according to the forecast of the folder.
Also according to SES, the pasta’s cold chain itself is capable of handling vaccines for covid-19, as it is commonly used in other vaccination campaigns in the state.
The balance sent by the folder also indicates that the acquisition of 164 cold rooms began in August, which will be distributed to municipalities to be used in the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus.
