Antonio Anastasia, who may be elected president of the Senate, is the author of the amendment that prevented Anvisa from sabotaging a vaccine against Covid-19.
He posted on Twitter:
“It is important, yes, to talk about the vaccine. An amendment that I presented in the bill that became Law 14.006, and which is already in force, determines that Anvisa’s authorization will be tacit if it is not analyzed within 72 hours. Because life can’t wait.
The Law establishes that to combat the coronavirus, the authorities may authorize the importation and distribution of medicines considered essential to combat the pandemic, provided that they are already registered with the corresponding Agency in the United States, Europe, Japan or China.
My amendment, which was approved, establishes that this authorization must be granted by Anvisa within 72 hours, being automatic if the period without manifestation has expired.
