a man 28 years old reported being beaten in a supermarket in Vrzea da Palma, nOR Minas del Norte, after an employee suspected that he had stolen a pair of boots from the establishment. The victim, Alex Jnior Alves de Souza, assures that he was also cursed by one of the attackers of “Black thief”. The case is being investigated by the police.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday (5/12) and was recorded in a police report by the Military Police (PM). According to the bulletin, the victim said that at the end of the episode, after everything was cleared up, the supermarket manager apologized to the boy, did not charge for the purchase he made and even offered him a job in the establishment.
According to the Military Police, Alex Junior says he went to a supermarket in Vrzea da Palma and bought a pair of booties, who started using it immediately. Then he went to another supermarket in the city, where he tried on a pair of sandals and bought a chicken. When he passed the cashier, the man said, an employee suspected he had stolen the boots he was wearing.
According to the police file, Alex said that an employee asked him to lift his foot to verify that the new shoe was not really from the supermarket, which was rejected by the consumer.
From that moment, the boy reported, he was dominated and “dragged” by the security guards to a room, where he was allegedly beaten with punches to the head, face and belly, suffering a wound in the upper part of the left eye and various bruises on the body. The injuries were recorded in a medical file at a health unit in Vrzea da Palma, where the victim was treated on Saturday afternoon.
A customer filmed the moment he approached the boy and they took him inside the supermarket, but a person interrupted the filming, according to the video circulating on social networks.
Alex Junior said that at one point, one of the attackers called him a “black thief”, but without identifying the author of the racial crime. He also reported that he stayed for about an hour in the locked room of the supermarket. He said that during that interval, a person went to the other supermarket, where he certified that he had indeed bought the pair of boots at the store.
According to the prime minister, the victim designated a supermarket employee named Eduardo Lucas as one of his assailants. On Saturday, with suspicion of a broken hand, Lucas went to the same health unit where Alex Junior attended.
The PM reported that, after the complaint, he went to the house of the suspect, but did not find him. For the police, the supermarket manager claimed that there was a body fight between Alex and Eduardo.
Also according to the police report, the boy also revealed that after everything became clear that he had not really stolen the pair of boots he was wearing, the supermarket manager apologized for what happened, did not charge for the purchases and still offered him a job to Alex, which he would not have accepted.
The report tried, but could not contact the management of the supermarket in Vrzea da Palma where the man was reportedly assaulted. The case must be investigated by the Civil Police.
