SUMMARY

  • Survivor says driver ‘was the first to jump’ from bus that fell from overpass in MG
  • The man says the passengers were desperate, but few managed to leave the vehicle before the accident

“When the bus came back and reached the bridge, the driver shouted: jump there was a brake. The driver was the first to jump ”. The memory is of one of the passengers, who survived the accident with the tourist bus that fell from an overpass on BR-381, in João Monlevade, in the central region of Minas.

The passenger, who will not be identified, recalls that the occupants of the vehicle despaired, but few people managed to jump before the crash. “When the bus returned and reached the bridge, the driver yelled: jump because the brake was missing. The driver was the first to jump. He jumped and other people jumped. I think five people jumped. I was the last to jump, ”he recalls.

He says he hopes to recover the other passengers who are hospitalized. “Thank goodness I was able to jump and I’m here without a scratch. Thank God. I just have to thank you. Unfortunately, many people died. Now it’s a big round of applause for the people who are still in the hospital. There was a cousin on the bus. I have to look for it. I have to see if he’s injured, ”he explained.
