SC curfew begins Saturday night | St. Catarina

With the new rule people need to stay home between midnight and 5am. A the measure is valid for 15 days. According to the decree:

• circulation and “crowding of people in public and private spaces and on public roads “cannot occur from midnight to 5 am;

A new rule does not apply to those working in essential services, such as public health and safety. also it can happen from midnight to 5 a.m. people who are in an emergency or going to or coming from work.

OR the use of masks becomes mandatory everywhere, except in residences, while the state decree of public calamity lasts.

According to the government, the curfew is necessary at this time to decrease the movement of people and the speed of transmission of the virus.

“By prohibiting the circulation from midnight to 5 in the morning, the intention is precisely to reach those activities that are not essential. Because it is clearly seen that the virus spreads in crowded environments that do not comply with the rules, it is what we are noticing so much on the beaches, during the day, unfortunately, and also at parties, various parties that take place at night. This is where we must also act ”, stated the Secretary of State for Health, André Motta, in an interview with Jornal do Lunch.

In one month, active cases of Covid-19 – those in which people are infected and transmit the disease to others – increased by more than 175% in the state.

According to the state government bulletin published this Friday (4), Santa Catarina has 389,751 patients confirmed with the disease, with 3,939 deaths.

The bed occupancy rate was reached in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the public network 86.97%. The West, Serra and Vale do Itajaí regions have rates higher than 90%. If only the occupancy of adult beds is taken into account, the state reaches 92.33%.

In relation to the risk map, of the total of 16 health regions in Santa Catarina, 15 are at very serious risk of contracting the disease and one, Far West, at serious risk. The update is on Wednesday (2).
