The statement was made together with the elected mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes (DEM), with whom he had lunch this Tuesday (1st). In the end, the two participated in a press conference at the Guanabara Palace. They said that one of the main topics discussed at the meeting was the Covid-19 pandemic.
“What the Ministry of Health told us about was that this purchase [da vacina] They will be done by the Ministry at any time and will be distributed among the states. I sincerely doubt that states buy the vaccine. This vaccine, as soon as it is approved by Anvisa, all the referral is for the Federal Government, through the National Immunization Plan, to make this purchase and distribute it. And the states, with the assistance of the municipality, will address the issue of logistics and apply it to the population, ”he said.
Also on Tuesday, the Health Surveillance Secretariat of the Ministry of Health said that the vaccination plan should only be ready when the vaccine is registered by Anvisa.
Details of the massive tests, according to the state government, will be released later Tuesday. On Monday, the Secretary of State for Health, the Secretary of State for Health, Carlos Alberto Chaves, said that “other units” could still be announced for the tests.
At the press conference, Paes said again that he opposes the total closure of the city. On Monday (30) he ruled out the confinement as “an extreme and unnecessary measure.”
“I am going to repeat here what I have been saying for a long time. I defend that we implement measures that can be fulfilled by the population. It is obvious that it is possible to go to the extreme of the extreme of the extreme, but it does not seem to me in the current circumstances that the confinement will be the most appropriate measure. We have to see that the measures are fulfilled, the impression I have is that they are not being fulfilled ”.
Previously, the government of Rio de Janeiro decided to cancel elective surgery to release Covid-19 beds.
The state faces an increase in the moving average of cases and deaths. In the capital, there is a waiting list for an ICU bed.
