The Civil Police of Santa Catarina investigates a mother suspected of having tortured her five-year-old son. The assaults occurred on Saturday (28), in Balneário Camboriú.
The woman has been free since yesterday after going through the custody hearing. The victim and the daughter of another suspect, a six-month-old baby, are in a shelter and await a court decision on the fate of the guard.
The case came to light through the complaint of a 17-year-old teenager who was babysitting while the children’s mother worked. Upon seeing the five-year-old boy with marks of aggression, the young woman called the Balneario Camboriú Tutorial Council.
The counselors went to the site and confirmed the marks there. The six-month-old baby was not injured by assault. The child was transferred to medical attention and the mother ended up being arrested for the crime of torture by the Civil Police.
In testimony, according to the Guardian Council, the boy reported that he suffered the assaults after wetting his pants. He would have gotten his clothes dirty after his mother didn’t help him go to the bathroom. The mother confirmed the version. The beating occurred with the use of slippers and a squeegee handle.
Most of the marks were on the victim’s back, but it was also possible to see them on the face. He underwent tests after suspected head trauma, but the results showed only bruising.
“The boy said he asked to pee three times, but it seems that, in the rush to get out of the house, the mother did not help and ended up doing it in his pants. We collected his report, which confirmed the version of his son and justified that he lost his mind, ”commented mentor counselor Camille Amorin.
The grandmother wants custody of the child
According to the Council of Guardians, the brothers were transferred to a shelter in the city because the attacks against the child are recurrent. They are from different parents and, for the time being, the child’s maternal grandmother has expressed an interest in maintaining custody.
“Now they await a judicial decision to find out the fate of the guard. The suspect’s mother traveled from Lages [a 289 km de Balneário Camboriú] and expressed interest. The lady said that she had already taken care of her grandson, but that due to health problems she began to live with his mother. Since now he sees that it did not work, he wants to stay with him ”, said the counselor.
The case is with the Police for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly of Balneário Camboriú. The report sought the unit, but no delegate was available to comment on the case. The Guardianship Council and the Civil Police did not provide the name of the suspect either.
