Alexandre Ferreira, from MDB, is elected mayor of Franca, SP | Elections 2020 in Ribeirão and Franca – SP

The candidate defeated Flávia Lancha (PSD), who came in second place with 56,151 votes, 42.38% of the total.

The second round in Franca had 32.93% abstention, 7.17% of white votes and 9.87% of invalid votes.

• Flávia Lancha (PSD): 56,151 votes – 42.38%

Known as the capital of men’s footwear, Franca is the second largest city in the Ribeirão Preto (SP) region with 355.9 thousand inhabitants. For 2021, the budget projected by the municipal administration is R $ 948 million.

Alexandre Augusto Ferreira, veterinarian and university professor, was born in Ribeirão Preto (SP) and is 52 years old. Regarding the need to expand public beds and more doctors, the BMD candidate said that it is necessary to review Santa Casa’s contract with the state to increase the number of beds. He also stated that it is necessary to open tenders to hire specialists.

In the educational field, he promised to adapt the schools to return to school after the pandemic and carry out the social reintegration of the work team, students and family. He also proposed the creation of a virtual agenda and wi-fi internet system for schools, and an increase in the practice of reading and writing with the purchase of more books for the literary collection of the municipal network.

To end the lack of places in nurseries, Ferreira said that it will hire places in private units to offer them to children, especially those up to 2 years old. Still on this issue, he affirmed that he intends to reinforce the “Mais Guardería” program.

To help the footwear sector, he is betting that the resumption will take place as soon as the merchandise is well qualified in the international market and believes that only in the search for new markets will the city recover its identity.

Even within the economy, he says that he will offer courses for projects in the municipality, such as the Social Fund, in addition to making proposals for companies to establish themselves and generate more jobs, and will facilitate the access of microenterprises to credit lines.

Asked about the problem of flooding, Ferreira promised to create floodplains, areas designed to receive rainwater before being directed to streams.

In culture, he defended the creation of the “Cultural Pole” as a specific place for the population to meet, holding workshops, networking space and learning-oriented workshops.
