A dog saved a 12-year-old girl from a jararaca attack in Bertioga, on the coast of São Paulo. The dog has been hospitalized for more than 24 hours, has not been observed and is recovering well.
Andressa da Silva dos Santos, 24, the teenager’s sister, told G1 that the episode happened when the mother of the two girls asked the girl to go to the neighboring property to open the gate, as requested by the owner . “When he returned, he saw the jararaca approaching and he screamed. My mother has four dogs and they all followed him, but only Typhoon faced the snake. I think that in his desperation to attack the jararaca, he was bitten a couple of times, ”Andressa said.
The snake responsible for the attack was approximately six feet tall and attacked the pet four times. According to relatives, seeing the snake agitated and crawling towards him, the young woman was paralyzed, until the dog attacked the other animal.
After the snake attack, the dog was taken to a veterinary clinic. “The doctor even said that if it were my sister, she would not have survived, because according to him, the dog has much more resistance to the poison,” Andressa said.
Typhoon remains hospitalized, recovering. “He is very strong, the only thing that worries him is that he does not urinate much, but other than that, he holds up well,” said the sister. Andressa also said how heroic the cub was. “He saved my sister, he is a true hero,” he concluded.
