Once approved, the vaccine for COVID-19 It should not be offered to the entire population of the country in 2021, but only to people in groups with higher risk of exposure and complications of the disease, reported Ministry of Health this Friday (27). The information is from Folha.

The portfolio has been working on the construction of a national immunization plan and a preliminary document should be shared with specialists and health secretaries next Tuesday (1st).

“We set goals for vaccination, because we do not have a vaccine to vaccinate the entire Brazilian population. Furthermore, the studies do not plan to work with all age groups initially, so we will not be able to vaccinate the entire Brazilian population ”, said the coordinator of the National Immunization Program, Francieli Fantinato.

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Elcio Franco, compared the vaccination strategy against Covid-19 with that of the influenza vaccination campaigns, which are also aimed at groups with a higher risk of exposure and complications.

“Our goal is to vaccinate 80 million Brazilians a year, we are not speaking for the entire population. The fact that certain groups of the population are not vaccinated does not mean that they will not be safe, because other groups that live with them will be immunized and that way they will not be able to become contaminated, ”he said.

According to Francieli, the definition of the groups to be vaccinated must take into account the epidemiological scenario of the country and the indications of the available vaccines.

The information was given at a press conference at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health and, according to the report, at the same meeting representatives of the ministry carried out attacks on the defense of social isolation, contravening the recommendations of other entities in the health area.

Furthermore, they attributed a reduction in mortality from Covid-19 to what they called “early treatment,” despite the fact that there is no scientifically proven early treatment against Covid-19 so far.

The group from the Ministry of Health even showed a graph that shows the date of entry of General Eduardo Pazuello as head of the portfolio and the date of disclosure of a protocol that expands the use of chloroquine, a remedy that is also scientific proof of effectiveness against the disease. . , against what specialists have pointed out as mortality reduction factors, such as learning in the clinical management of patients.
