The candidate for the City of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), was diagnosed with Covid-19 this Friday (27). According to a campaign note, he has no symptoms of the disease and in quarantine for as long as necessary.

The candidate would participate in the Globo debate this Friday night along with his opponent in the second round, Bruno Covas (PSDB). By the rules agreed with the two candidates, the station canceled the debate.

On his Twitter account, Covas says he received news of his opponent’s positive test and wished him a good recovery. “We have just received the news that Guilherme Boulos tested positive for Covid-19. As far as we were informed, he has no symptoms. We wish the candidate a speedy recovery.”

The PSOL candidate did the coronavirus test because, on Monday, the campaign was informed that the deputy Sâmia Bonfim, also of the PSOL, who was with him on the public agenda last week, had tested positive. “At the meeting, Boulos and Sâmia followed all the recommended sanitary measures, such as the use of masks and alcohol gel,” the note says.
