The writer Olavo de Carvalho, considered a “guru” of Bolsonarism, defended that President Jair Bolsonaro resigns from office if he is not able to “defend the freedom of his most faithful friends.” On social media, Olavo defended that the president should leave the political scene before losing face.
“Bolsonaro: if you are not even capable of defending the freedom of your most faithful friends, give up going home before losing the prestige that you once deserved,” Carvalho wrote on his Twitter account. In another message, he clarified that the criticism does not amount to asking for his immediate resignation. “I didn’t ask for any resignation, I put him on probation.”
The writer did not say who would be the faithful friends who would need the defense of the president. As the Status About two weeks ago, Olavo went through a period of financial turmoil after 250 companies disassociated their brands from content published by Olavo. He even lost about 30% of the students who paid their course tuition through PayPal, one of the companies that Olavo banned.
In October, Caetano Veloso was also ordered to pay compensation of R $ 2.9 million for spreading false information against the artist.
Furthermore, in response to the guru’s message on the networks, Olavo’s followers complain about the arrests of blogger Oswaldo Eustáquio and militant Sara Fernanda Giromini. Bolsonaro supporters, the two were detained in different situations.
The Federal Police are investigating their participation in an alleged organization and financing scheme for acts in defense of the military dictatorship and for the closure of the National Congress. Eustáquio was arrested in July after crossing the border with Paraguay and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, prohibited him from using social networks (his account is managed today by allies).
Two weeks ago, the Electoral Court ordered a video posted by the blogger with “supposedly false” accusations against candidate Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) removed from the air. In the video, Eustáquio assured that the psolista uses video companies to ‘launder money’, an accusation that was used by the campaign of Celso Russomanno (Republicans), defeated in the first round. The Justice also ordered the suspension of the internet channel.
