The infectologists affirm that there is a direct link between the crowds in the events with the increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations.
“One of the things that we have noticed, when we have questioned patients when they are hospitalized, is how they think they contracted Covid-19. In most cases we have reports that it would have been a gathering, such as lunches, parties inside the house; or the son who started with a clear image and passed it on to his father, grandfather. So there is an increase in the spread of cases of these people who frequent crowded places. Parties, discos, bars ”, said the infectologist Alberto Chebabo.

Suspension of elective surgeries
After meeting this Monday afternoon, the State Superintendency of the Ministry of Health in Rio de Janeiro and the State and Municipal Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro report that they will take measures “due to the verification of the increase in health indicators in relation to Covid-19 “. Among the announced measures are the opening of 214 beds and the postponement of elective surgery.
The suspension of elective surgeries will take place as of December 7. High complexity surgeries will be maintained in areas such as oncology, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic and neurological.
Decisions will be reviewed in weekly meetings between the agencies. “It should be mentioned that the measures taken are aimed at freeing up the largest number of beds for Covid-19 without a greater impact on the health of the state,” the text says.
