Just over 20 days after the death of two lawyers in an office in Goiânia (GO), the Civil Police are investigating the possible motive for the crime: a judicial dispute over a farm located in São Domingos, in the northeast of Goiás, valued at R $ 46 million. The information is from G1 and TV Anhanguera.

“[O motivo pode ser] a millionaire lawsuit involving the suspect’s land in which the victims testified against. We cannot yet determine if this process would have been concluded, but we know that the lawyers have had some kind of success, ”said Police Chief Rhaniel Almeida.

According to information from TV Anhanguera, the family suspected of being the mastermind of the crime, Nei Castelli, 58, bought land in São Domingos in 2000 and began making investments. But other families, from Paraná, claimed to be the true owners of the property and hired lawyers Marcos Aprígio Chaves and Frank Alessandro Carvalhaes, the two victims shot to death.

The police suspect that this legal dispute motivated Nei to kill the lawyers, and she says that if they were not arrested after the murders, the perpetrators of the crime would receive R $ 100,000 in payment. If they were found and captured by the police, the amount would amount to R $ 500 thousand.

Nei was arrested on Tuesday (17), when he was going from Correntina, in Bahia, the city where he lived, to Paraná, when he was captured at a gas station in Catalão, in the southeast of Goiás. He had R $ 34 thousand in kind at the time of his arrest.

The other four suspected of being involved in the crime are: Pedro Henrique Martins, suspected of murdering lawyers; Jaberson Gomes, suspected of making an appointment with the victims and accompanying Pedro Henrique on the day of the crime; Hélica Ribeiro Gomes, Pedro Henrique’s girlfriend and suspected of receiving payment for the crime; and Cosme Lompa Tavares, suspected of hiring executors.
