This Friday, November 20, the Black Awareness Day is celebrated. Traditionally, the date is synonymous with party in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. But in 2020, the capital of São Paulo will have a normal day, while the capital of Rio de Janeiro will have a holiday, which is part of the Rio state calendar.
This is because, in São Paulo, the Black Consciousness festival was brought forward to May 21, due to the new coronavirus pandemic. At that time, the goal was to increase levels of social isolation in the capital of São Paulo.
Below, understand what is opening and closing in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro tomorrow:
Saint Paul
In São Paulo, this Friday there will be no holidays. Therefore, banks will operate normally.
The trade should also operate regularly. The Sindilojas-SP (São Paulo Merchants Union) issued a statement to remind that, due to the anticipation of the holiday to May, this Friday will be considered a normal working day for all employees.
The rotation of municipal vehicles will continue to be applied in the São Paulo capital this Friday. The Zone of Maximum Restriction for the Movement of Trucks (ZMRC) and the Area of Maximum Restriction for the Movement of Charter Vehicles (ZMRF) are also maintained on this day.
In public transport, the fleet in operation will be the same available on weekdays.
Rio de Janeiro
In the city and state of Rio de Janeiro it will be a holiday this Friday. Banks, therefore, should not open.
In commerce, despite the holiday, stores can open, as provided in the collective bargaining agreement signed between SindilojasRio (Union of Merchants of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro) and the Union of Employees of Commerce of Rio de Janeiro.
State and municipal officials will not work, except for services considered essential (such as police, firefighters and health workers).
