Amapá suffers another blackout tonight. Around 9:00 p.m., a new blackout hit the metropolitan region of Macapá, including Santana and Mazagão, and some municipalities in the interior. Wanted by Twitter, a THE (Companhia de Eletricidade do Amapá) affirmed that there is still no information about what could have caused the failure.
Since November 3, the state has been facing problems with the supply of electricity: the electrical substation in the capital, Macapá, caught fire and caused a blackout in 14 of the 16 municipalities. Power began to be restored on day 7, but on a rotating basis.
The authorities indicate that the new blackout was caused by the overload in the transformer of the Macapá substation.
The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, told the columnist of the Twitter Carla Araújo that the system is “revitalizing and little by little the energy will return.”
According to reports from some residents of the WhatsApp groups, in some neighborhoods of Macapá electricity comes and goes constantly.
Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) asked the authorities to clarify what happened.
“We are once again with a total blackout in Amapá. There is an urgent need to clarify to the responsible authorities about what happened at this time,” he wrote on Twitter.
The senator presented a project for the creation of a fund that gathers donations and resources from lawsuits to economically compensate the population affected by the blackout in Amapá.
Randolfe said that the initiative aims to help those who have suffered problems from lack of light or even with the rotation of the light: hunger, damaged appliances, lost merchant stocks and health problems after drinking dirty or contaminated water.
In the social network, Internet users complained and questioned the reasons for another blackout.
