Leonardo Mateus Janeri Barbosa, a 24-year-old recent doctor, died on Friday (6), in Curitiba. He was in the Evangelical Hospital after suffering burn injuries caused by the flames of a fireplace in a bar in the center of Paraná. He did not resist and died. The information was released by UOL.
The boy had 70% of his body hit by fire while an employee of the establishment lit the fireplace. The case occurred last Wednesday (4) and is being investigated by the Civil Police.
Also according to UOL, Leonardo died less than a month after obtaining his medical degree from the Faculdade Evangélica Mackenzie. He worked as a guard in Almirante Tamandaré, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba.
According to DHPP (Homicide Investigation and Protection of Persons), the fuel that the employee used to light the fireplace was accidentally spilled on Leonardo, who was at the scene with six other friends. The version was confirmed by the victim’s family.
“They had those containers with fire on the table and they went to put the alcohol refill in a five-liter jar. Then they collided, they stumbled, I don’t know what. It was a good part. I understand it was not intentional, but they must be held responsible. Who throws alcohol on a five gallon fire, man? ”Asks Guilherme Janeri, Leonardo’s twin brother, in contact with UOL.
In a note on social media, the bar reported that it “deeply regrets the death of Leonardo Mateus Janeri Barbosa.” “We are at the disposal of the authorities for the investigations and other necessary measures and, in this moment of pain, we sympathize and express our deepest condolences to family and friends,” says the note.
