The humorist José Luiz Almeida da Silva, better known as Jotinha, died this Thursday afternoon (11/11). The information was confirmed by the Secretary of Health of Bahia, Fábio Vilas-Boas, through social networks, where he explained that the death would have occurred due to multiple organ failure, as a consequence of covid-19.
The artist had been hospitalized in a private health unit in Santo Antônio de Jesus, in the Bahia valley, since Tuesday (3/11), when he had respiratory problems. On Thursday afternoon, the official profile of a comedian on Instagram released the result of Jotinha’s test in which he tested positive for the virus.
Call for transfer
Comedian Tirupilla even made an appeal through social networks for the authorities to transfer Jotinha to a hospital in the capital of Bahia. In response to the request, Fábio Vilas-boas stated that, due to the humorist’s clinical situation, the transfer would be very risky.
“Unfortunately Tirullipa, the clinical situation of our Jotinha is very serious and there are no conditions for the transfer in the air ICU to Salvador. Fortunately, the Incar Hospital, where he is interned in Santo Antônio de Jesús, has all the resources,” wrote the secretary . On twitter.
Jotinha had more than 1 million followers on Instagram alone and gained prominence on the Internet for his tone of voice, the unbridled way of commenting on football and the humorous way of “annoying” friends on WhatsApp groups.
