Hospitalized in La Plata just three days after his 60th birthday, Diego Maradona showed improvement on Tuesday, but should remain in the hospital until Wednesday. The former player’s personal doctor, Leopoldo Luque, spoke with Argentine journalists on Tuesday and reported on the health problem that led the star to seek medical help: anemia and dehydration.
– It’s better than yesterday (Monday), and the idea is to stay one more day. He is anemic and a little dehydrated. We want to improve it as much as possible. We need a little more time – Luque explained.

The doctor indicated that Maradona will need to continue treating the problem in the long term, but that he will be able to return to normal work in a short time. However, his wish is for the Argentine to remain hospitalized one more day to be better monitored, although it depends on Pibe’s agreement.
– Since he’s fine, he wants to go. He’s in a good mood and we’re joking. You are absolutely aware of the situation. He will stay for about three days, we hope he wants to stay until tomorrow, because here we can monitor him better, and the diagnosis is faster – explained the doctor.

Maradona’s last public appearance was on Friday of last week, his birthday, when Gimnasia beat the Board of Trustees 3-0, on the opening day of the Professional League Cup, a tournament created by the new league that organizes football in country (LFP). The competition is not the Argentine Championship, but it will give a place in the 2021 Libertadores and a place in the 2022 South American Cup.
According to the Argentine press, Diego Maradona was very moved in recent days by his birthday, and the problems of reuniting all his children on October 30 saddened him. During the tribute on Friday, he had difficulty walking and raising his left arm.
