Palmeiras welcomed their new coach, Abel Ferreira, by beating Atlético-MG 3-0 this Monday, at 5:00 p.m., for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship, the last of the first round. The coach was in the stands of Allianz Parque to see for the first time the new group with which he will work.

The team started under pressure, but soon managed to position themselves, taking the ball and with great intensity, and opened the scoring in the 18th minute with Raphael Veiga. Goalkeeper Everson was crucial to not allow a more elastic score for the hosts in the first half. In the complementary stage, the Gallo looked for the tie on all sides, but it was two powerful counterattacks that enshrined the victory alviverde, first with Ron and then with Wesley.

With the result, Alviverde maintains seventh place, but goes to 28 points and plays a little more in the first places. Atlético, on the other hand, remains with 32 points, in third position, and lost the opportunity to become leader of the table. They both have one game less.

In the next round, Palmeiras will face Vasco on Sunday (8), at 4:00 p.m., in São Januário, while Atlético-MG will host Flamengo the same day, but at 6:15 p.m., in Mineirão. Before, however, Alviverde catches Bragantino, on Thursday (5), at 7pm, for the second leg of the Brazilian Cup (he won 3 to 1 on the way).

The teams start well and Palmeiras open the scoring
Atlético-MG started the game with more possession, trying to infiltrate Palmeiras’ defense, and it was only in the sixth minute that Nathan made the first submission, in the hands of Weverton. Palmeiras arrived in danger after ten minutes, in the wrong start of the white defense, but Raphael Veiga kicked Everson’s goal. At 13, just arrived from the owners of the house, left, but Réver made the cut.

Alviverde began to press more and arrived, from the right, with a strong kick from Ron, scattered by Everson, leaving Luiz Adriano to test the letter, again defended by the goalkeeper. The best moment of the team was crowned with a goal in the 18th minute, with a play from the left of Viña, who crossed for Raphael Veiga to finish with a header. Then another dangerous play, this time with Wesley, who stopped in front of the goalie.

After that, Palmeiras continued pressing, reaching more on the wings, while Galo only managed to press at the end of the first stage at 39 minutes, with Arana, Júnior Alonso and Savarino, but without success.

Atlético starts better, but Alviverde takes advantage of counterattacks
Atlético started the complementary stage trying to find the goal and even had a good opportunity in the three minutes, but, after “rolling” and passing everywhere, Nathan kicked over the goal. The answer came on the next move, with Wesley’s kick in the keeper’s hands. The visitors continued to press, and Palmeiras only kicked again in the 11th minute, with Ron, on a good counterattack.

Galo continued with the same strategy and, at 20, Marrony arrived on the left, through Gustavo Gómez’s cut. Even better, the mining team suffered a deadly counterattack from Wesley, which passed Luiz Adriano. He just played for Ron to put the bottom of the nets. At 31, the number 10 launched Zé Rafael in depth and, without scoring, ordered Wesley to sacrament the triumph 3-0.
