The displacement of a doctor from Maranhão carried out on Monday (26) generated criticism on social networks. In the stories on her Instagram account, when asked what she thinks of the nursing profession, Kayke Paiva says that “either you do nursing, or you use the ‘xerecard’, or you do medicine.”
“Medicine (is) the one that gives money. The rest is rest (…). Nursing only exists because medicine exists,” he said. The message was considered disrespectful by the nursing class, as it suggests that selling the body is more profitable than the profession.
A page about nurses cut and posted the video. Subsequently, several nurses and even doctors published comments against the professional, denouncing what they call discrimination and defamation against nurses and nursing technicians.
TO Twitter, the doctor says that it all started when his girlfriend was asked a question on Instagram, and that he just told the reality about the devaluation of nurses. Kayke also issued a note to explain the episode.
“I am a person who plays a lot at being poor. I already took the bus, I was poor. At no time did I disrespect the nursing profession. I believe that without it there is no health, because a hospital does not function without nurses When I mentioned the term ‘xerecard’, I meant that perhaps selling the body is a good idea to earn money, since nursing is so undervalued ”, he argued.
“I see the suffering of my mother, sister and girlfriend earning little, working in precarious conditions, being mistreated by doctors in general, who are mostly ignorant. I apologize to the nurses for any bad speech on my part. Remembering that a lot of what I say in my Instagram stories is just humor. I do not seek to humiliate anyone, much less defame any profession, since each profession has its space and deserves due respect, “he added.
“In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that I have always treated all nurses and technicians well, as well as the entire team, and that I have never been the target of processes in this regard. I hope that all the nurses accept my retraction ”, he added.
Despite the note, the doctor does not skimp on insults to anyone who was offended by the mail and went to complain about his personal profile. Yesterday, the doctor shared the messages he received, as well as his responses, on the social network.
In some of them, he threatens to “punch someone in the face.” In another, he says that if he needs help, he will go to Sírio Libanês, while the other person “will die poor and diabetic.”
Kayke Paiva graduated in medicine in 2019 from a private university and says that he has already worked in 10 public hospitals, such as UPA, most of them in the interior of Maranhão. Kayke said he was a GP for about 10 months, but stopped medicine because he “got tired of the grueling shifts.”
Currently, the doctor lives in Barra do Corda (MA) and uses social networks to sell courses on how to become a trader in the financial market.
Measures and repudiation
Upon learning of the video, Cofen (Federal Council of Nursing) informed that it will request the Regional Medical Council to initiate an ethical disciplinary process against Kayke Paiva. Cofen also evaluates the adoption of other measures against the doctor, in the civil and criminal sphere.
“The insults of Kayke Paiva in his stories are a lack of respect for 2.2 million nurses, technicians and nursing assistants, who are 24 hours a day with patients and dedicate their lives to the health of the population, in a time of global pandemic. They also reveal the ignorance of the complexity of multiprofessional work in health and the disregard for the integrity of the human being ”, concludes Cofen’s note.
The Federal University of Maranhão also issued a note of disapproval signed by Dean Natalino Salgado, who is a doctor.
“The Federal University of Maranhão, in the event of the publication, on the social network, by the medical professional Kayke Paiva, of crimes against the nursing profession, goes to the public to express its rejection of such content, at the same time that it affirms the enormous value of nursing professionals for the health structure. Nursing training is as vital as any other in the health chain and, as such, it deserves due respect and recognition “, says the text.
“It is important to highlight that the opinion of this professional, prejudiced and inconsequential, does not represent the group of the medical category, which has been guided by the feeling of joint work among health professionals. The UFMA, as a training and effective health entity in the state of Maranhão, with Medicine and Nursing courses in three of its nine campuses, has guided its training by respect and the sense of appreciation and collectivity among all the professionals who shape. And he deeply regrets situations of this kind, “the statement completes.
