The Association of Servants of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) stated that employees will not tolerate pressure in the performance of their work and that vaccines against covid-19 will be evaluated according to technical and scientific standards.
The clarification was made due to the recent controversies related to the purchase of the Coronavac vaccine by the Ministry of Health. Coronavac is developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac in partnership with the Butantã Institute.
“Regardless of origin or nationality, the products will be evaluated within the highest technical and scientific standards, with the purpose of promoting access and protecting the health of the Brazilian people,” the Association said in a note.
According to the entity, public officials will not tolerate political or ideological pressure at work. “On this occasion, we express our support for the Anvisa collegiate council, which has been working in favor of the independence and autonomy of the Agency.”
The agency also reinforced the commitment of Anvisa employees to “maintain exemption, integrity, ethics and speed in the analysis of regulatory processes involving products intended to face the new coronavirus pandemic,” he said.
