SÃO PAULO – The governor of São Paulo, João Doria, once again raised his tone against President Jair Bolsonaro. In an interview with CBN radio on Thursday morning, the toucan said Bolsonaro is known internationally as a denier. According to Doria, the president has “an obsession with him and re-election.”
– It was not me who declared that (Covid) was a cold, I did not offer chloroquine to the population or to the emu of the Palácio da Alvorada. I didn’t say that anyone who does isolation, wears a mask, is a coward. All these statements are from President Jair Bolsonaro, a notorious denier, a person who has become internationally recognized as a denier. I do not do politics with the vaccine – said Doria.

The governor also regretted that Bolsonaro has disavowed his Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello. On Tuesday, Pazuello announced in a meeting with governors the intention to buy 46 million doses of the vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac in alliance with the Butantan Institute. The next day, however, Bolsonaro ordered the wallet to return.
The decision comes amid months of tension between the president and the governor of São Paulo. According to Doria, the president’s actions humiliated the minister. The toucan pointed out that Pazuello was applauded at the meeting where he spoke, among other things, that the Butantan vaccine was the “Brazilian vaccine.”

Doria also affirmed that he views the president with a predilection for fights, recalling other Bolsonaro controversies. According to Doria, the president has a “passion for the fight.”
– (The President) disavowed the minister, humiliated his minister by publicly rejecting him. It is incredible that in a pandemic a president puts this electoral peak and this obsession with his re-election and obsession with me – he said.

Doria has also used Coronavac as a political additive. Even before the conclusion of phase 3 of the clinical trials of the vaccine and the analysis of Anvisa, which has not yet occurred, the governor even announced the start of immunization in the state on December 15. The term was later relativized. The toucan also presented preliminary data from the last stage of the tests to attest to the safety of the immunizer, although the scientists caution that it is necessary to wait for the conclusion of the work to obtain definitive conclusions.
‘SP never closes doors’
In an interview with CBN radio, the governor stated that it is possible that people from other states who are in São Paulo or come to the state have access to vaccination.
Given the controversy over the purchase of doses of the vaccine, President Jair Bolsonaro and the governor had already opposed the mandatory vaccine.

– São Paulo never closes its doors to anyone. The hospitals of SP, the basic health units, have always treated people from other states – said Doria, who added: – It would be legitimate and absolutely correct, in addition to humanitarian, that we attend to vaccination people from other states who were here or here to go. .
During the interview, Doria repeatedly stated that he supports the other vaccines, but emphasized that the one developed in partnership with the Butantan Institute is the most advanced in the testing phase.
The governor, however, avoided talking about a schedule. The toucan had already set December 15 as a possible date for the start of immunization by health professionals.
According to the toucan, however, after meeting with Anvisa, he decided to avoid talking about dates. According to agency technicians, he said, the lines could be understood as “pressure for approval of the vaccine.”
– Anvisa asked us, understanding that it was not necessary to set a date and that this could be understood as pressure. It was in a respectful way that we decided not to set a date – said Doria.
