The Deliberative Council of Santos, in a virtual meeting this Wednesday night, approved the agreement with Huachipato, from Chile, for the transfer of 50% of the economic rights of forward Soteldo, who remains in Peixe.
This procedure was necessary due to the proximity of the club’s elections, scheduled for December 12. Directors must vote on any dealings in the club within that less than three-month period for the election.
- 83 votes approving the negotiation;
- 71 votes preventing negotiation;
- 8 abstained from voting.
Huachipato, therefore, will forgive Santos a debt of US $ 3.55 million (R $ 20 million) in order to regain 100% of Soteldo’s rights. Peixe bought 50% of the Venezuelan at the beginning of last year for that amount, but never paid a penny. The debt will be terminated and the Chilean club will withdraw the FIFA lawsuit that prevents Santos from registering new players through three windows.
It should be remembered that, despite the agreement with Huachipato, Santos is still blocked from signing contracts by FIFA for a debt with Atlético Nacional, from Colombia, for the hiring of Felipe Aguilar, in the amount of about R $ 4, 5 million. .

According to the agreement, Soteldo remains at Santos “until a transfer proposal to a third club meets expectations.” In practice, a future negotiation is in charge of Huachipato. Fish can still benefit from the sale: it will keep 10% of the value that exceeds US $ 8 million (R $ 45 million).
In addition, the Chilean club will pay $ 200,000 (R $ 1.1 million) to pay Santos’ debts directly with Soteldo, such as gloves and bonuses.
– In fact, Santos never had Soteldo. Santos had Soteldo in the field, yes, but for economic rights Santos never paid, he did not even pay Soteldo. It’s kind of a comeback, explained President Orlando Rollo, at a press conference earlier.
In the package, Huachipato also promised to withdraw from FIFA a second charge to Santos, that of US $ 7.2 million (about R $ 40 million). The amount, with interest and a fine, refers to the promise of President José Carlos Peres to buy another 50% of the Venezuelan’s economic rights, made at the beginning of the year, after Soteldo rejected a proposal from Atlético-MG and renewed it. with Peixe.
