The acting director general of Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency), Antonio Barra Torres, said on Monday (19) that the vaccine against Covid-19 should be released in the shortest possible time.

Barra Torres, who went on sabbatical this Monday afternoon in the Senate to be confirmed in office, said it is not possible to give a date for the vaccination against the new coronavirus disease.

“This agency will give the answer in the best time, in the shortest time possible, of course. Because we all have relatives, relatives who have already died from this disease. So, our interest is institutional and, of course, also personal, as citizens, “he said.

The executive president of Anvisa had his nomination approved by 14 votes to 3 in the Social Affairs Commission (CAS) and now the vote must go to the plenary, which should happen at the end of this week.
