Councilor Ronaldo Batista (PSC), from Belo Horizonte (MG), was detained preventively by the Civil Police on Thursday (15). The deputy is suspected of being involved in the death of councilor Hamilton Dias de Moura, from Funilândia (MG), who was killed in July this year in the capital of Minas Gerais. The information is from the newspaper O Tempo.
According to investigators, the homicide may be linked to a union dispute. Moura was president of the Union of Drivers and Employees in Freight Transportation, Transportation Logistics and Differentiated Companies of Belo Horizonte and Region (SIMECLODIF).
Wanted by the O Tempo report, the councilor’s defense said he was surprised by the arrest warrant. According to the congressman’s lawyer, Humberto Martins, he goes to the Department of Homicide Investigation and Protection of the Person (DHPP) to gather more information.
In August, Ronaldo Batista’s office had already been the subject of search and seizure warrants. At that time, through a note also to the newspaper O Tempo, the councilor of the councilor reported that he was not the main target of the investigation and that the raids “did not cause any fear to the parliamentarian.
