The Federal Police (PF) faced an unusual situation during the execution of a search warrant and seizure at the residence of the Deputy Head of Government Jair Bolsonaro in the Senate, Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR), in Boa Vista. The congressman had money hidden in his underwear and anus, according to sources familiar with the case who are aware of the report.
The senator was the subject of one of the seven search and seizure orders authorized by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). It is being investigated by “Operation Desvid-19”, which investigates deviations of more than R $ 20 million in parliamentary amendments destined for the Roraima Secretary of State for Health to face the covid-19 pandemic.
During the search, the PF found about R $ 30 thousand reais in cash in the senator’s house. There was shame, because the police realized that the MP was hiding something and asked him to be naked and squatting.
The case finds a precedent in the police chronicle of Brazilian political life. In 2005, the parliamentary adviser to the then federal deputy José Nobre Guimarães (PT-CE), José Adalberto Vieira, was captured at the Congonhas airport with R $ 209,000 in a suitcase and US $ 100,000 packed in underwear. In 2012, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) decided that Guimarães could not be held responsible for the case.
Rodrigues stated that he believes “in divine justice” to say that he is calm about the arrest. “I believe in the justice of men and in Divine Justice. That is why I am at ease with the fact that it happened today at my residence in Boa Vista, the capital of Roraima. The Federal Police did their part in the search for an investigation in which my name was mentioned. However, my house was invaded for just doing my job as a parliamentarian, bringing resources to fight against covid-19 in the health of the state ”.
The parliamentarian also said that he has “a clean past and a dignified life. I have never been involved in scandals of any magnitude ”.

However, my house was invaded for just doing my job as a parliamentarian, bringing resources to combat COVID-19 in the health of the state.
I have a clean past and a decent life. I have never been involved in scandals of any magnitude. If there have been lawsuits against me in the past, it has been proven in court that I am innocent. In public life this is the case and, during my 30 years in politics, I met many people with bad intentions to tarnish my image, especially in a tumultuous electoral period, as is the case in our capital.
I say to those who know me: keep calm. I trust the law and I will show that I have nothing to do with any crime. I am not an executive, so I am not a command officer and, as a legislator, I continue to do my part, providing resources for Roraima to develop. That justice be done and that, if anyone is guilty, they are punished with the rigors of the law.
