SAO PAULO – President Jair Bolsonaro said this Saturday in a live broadcast on his social networks that his nominee for the vacancy as Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) would need to have an affinity and should have beer or soda with him.
The president said that he had a list of 10 study plans and that training was not his only criteria for choosing Kassio Marques for the vacancy with the retirement of Celso de Mello. Bolsonaro defended the election of Marques, TRF-1 judge, in the transmission of a conversation with a supporter in Guarujá, where he spends the weekend.

– I had about ten resumes [de possíveis candidatos ao STF] and I need to choose one. This boy has to have beer with me, or Itubaína. I’m not nominating a guy just for the resume. You will get there and you will be the master of yourself. It has to be independent, okay, but it has to have that affinity with me that it would have through Itubaína or Coca-Cola – said the president.
During the conversation with supporter Alessandra Guimarães, Bolsonaro said that he and Marques would have “things in common” to discuss, such as abortion, family, weapons, foreign policy and the free market. The video already has more than 540 thousand views.

The president said that the fact that Marques was chosen as a judge by former minister Dilma Rousseff (PT) would not convert the PT or the communist magistrate. Marques’ defense came in response to criticism from the most radical part of Bolsonarism, which defended a conservative for the vacancy.
– Look, where is it going [TRF-1] another triple list will come and who will indicate [o novo desembargador] It’s me. It was 14 years of [governo do] PT, a lot of good people went through the PT government, and we will not take it and say, ‘look, you worked, you’re out,’ Bolsonaro said.
The president also played down the fact that Marques decided last year to launch a Supreme Court tender that provided for the purchase of luxury items, such as lobster and award-winning wines. For Bolsonaro, the magistrate analyzed the fairness of the tender, and not the items that will be purchased themselves.
Bolsonaro recorded the 31-minute meeting with a supporter who lives in Santos and asked through social networks to meet him in person. The woman began the video with a mask with a photo of the president, but took it off at the request of the president. In the conversation, Bolsonaro again criticized the measures of social isolation.
– From the beginning [da pandemia] He used to say: we are going to worry about the virus, but we cannot ignore the economy. And now people are paying the price, many people have lost their jobs.
He also came back to advocate for the use of hydroxychloroquine in treating Covid-19. The drug has no scientific proof and can cause side effects on the health of patients.
Commenting on the departure of former Justice Minister Sergio Moro from his government, Bolsonaro once again said that in his government there are no cases of corruption when commenting on his statement on the end of the Lava Jato operation.
– When I said that I finished with Lava Jato, it is in my government, there is no corruption in mine. Even if it wanted to end, there is no way to end it, it is independent. Some think it could interfere with the Federal Police. No president interfered in the MPF. If Lula could intervene, would he or Dilma interfere? – He said.
