But the Florida team had a better defensive performance at the end of the quarter, which ended up being decisive to start the fourth quarter by winning 88-82, especially because of Robinson’s accuracy in the shots of three.
The fourth period was also hotly contested. Miami looked like they were going to take off when they were 93-82. But the Lakers didn’t let their opponents rest, be it because of Davis’ strength on defense or because of LeBron’s offensive leadership. And at 6:20 am at the end of the fourth period, a three-pointer by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope put the team ahead 97-96, their first lead since the first quarter.
From there, teams started making more mistakes than usual. Duncan Robinson made an incredible 3-pointer to put the Heat ahead 101-99. And then the Butler-LeBron duel escalated, with the stars trading baskets. At 21s8 it was a Davis basket that put the Lakers ahead 108-107. At 16s8, two free throws made by Butler sent the Heat ahead again.
The Lakers had a chance to win on Danny Green’s triple. But even free, he failed. Tyler Herro also made free throws to secure the Heat’s victory 111-108, securing at least a sixth game in the NBA decision.
