The Professor of Medicine Ronald Sergio Pallotta Filho wore a black mask to show the 1st year students of the Medical Sciences career at Santa Casa, in São Paulo, how to relate to poor patients in the office, according to students. The practice known as “black face” is considered racist and occurred during a class given on Tuesday (6), via the Internet. (see video above).
The Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo stated that it repudiates the “racist action” and determined the opening of an investigation (read full note below). THE G1 awaits the professor’s position on the case.
The students filmed the computer screen with the teacher’s theatrical demonstration. In the image you can see that the doctor wears a black mask and speaks jokingly simulating a patient from the Unified Health System (SUS).
“I don’t eat these weak foods here at SUS, no you know? I don’t eat, no. As a man, man. Do you understand?”
The students prepare a formal performance for the Human Rights Nucleus of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo. They also want to take the case to the Regional Medical Council of São Paulo (Cremesp).

The subject of the class, according to the students, is preparatory, on basic and preliminary teachings of a discipline. According to one student, the purpose of the class is to show how the good relationship between doctor and patient can facilitate a diagnosis.
“The patient does not have the technical knowledge of a doctor, but it is precisely the doctor who can facilitate this understanding, a good consultation facilitates the understanding of what the patient is feeling and allows to reach the diagnosis and prescription of the appropriate treatment,” said one. resident doctor, who does not want to identify himself for fear of persecution by the teacher.
“He teaches medicine, propaedeutics, for 1st and 2nd year students and does something like that? He is also a doctor in the largest philanthropic hospital in Latin America, does this agree with the type of care provided in ¿Santa Casa? “Said a resident doctor, who prefers not to identify himself for fear of retaliation.
Still, according to her, the doctor is known for his lack of education in dealing with colleagues and residents. “He is very arrogant and authoritarian. He does not accept being questioned, even when they are not questioning him, just make some technical argument that he loses his composure,” he said.
THE G1 I heard from another resident physician who reported abuse of authority. “In an ER environment, he demands, in the harshest way possible, immediacy in the bureaucratic affairs of current and past shifts. This kind of abusive and rude attitude is common.”
These and other questions about Ronald’s medical conduct were brought to the Medical Residency Commission (Coreme).
In a note, the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo said that it “strongly rejects any racist or prejudicial action. Aware of the aforementioned video, the institution decided to open an internal investigation to investigate the facts that may result in the removal of the doctor involved. The investigation will be carried out within the scope of our human rights nucleus in which the right to be heard will be guaranteed. ”
