In São José do Rio Preto, a patient was forcibly removed from an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) after being outraged by the treatment received by one of the employees.
A person at the reception registered the confusion. The images, taken by a cell phone, show the moment when the woman is dragged away by a security guard. She holds the patient by both arms and tries to avoid expulsion.
“He (the security guard) is hurting me. (…) I don’t go out without being treated ”, the woman shouted in the recording. The next moment she is transferred to the external area of the UPA.
The patient sought care due to shortness of breath associated with stress and anxiety. When he went through the pre-service at UPA Tangará, he was informed that due to the pandemic period, care for respiratory syndromes is centralized at the UBS in the Solo Sagrado neighborhood. The units are separated by 9.9 kilometers. The woman, who had already attended a Base Hospital before the UPA, started the confusion after being denied the right to care.
“They refused and I also refused to leave without help. I was only exalted in the tone of my voice, as I was outraged by the lack of respect and lack of empathy for my health problem. It was as if he wasn’t saying anything, ”said the patient.
The woman also said that the body was marked by the hands of the security guard. I am going to register a bulletin (of occurrence) in the Women’s Police Station, since I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through, ”he said.
