Two military policemen were shot dead in an interval of approximately two hours on a farm located in the Porto Velho region.
The suspicion is that the crimes were committed by a group of invaders from an area close to where the parliamentarians were. No one has been arrested so far.
The first PM to die was Sergeant Márcio Rodrigues da Silva. He was shot at around 5 pm on Saturday (3) in a car, where there was also a group of police officers investigating the death of retired Lieutenant José Figueiredo Sobrinho, who was killed some two hours earlier.
Another six soldiers were injured: three policemen in the last ambush and three nephews of the lieutenant in the first approach.
The crime was registered on a farm on the BR-364, about 30 km from the Mutum-Paraná district.
According to police reports, the lieutenant was fishing with nephews when a group of people who invaded an area of the place days before approached the victim’s vehicle and manipulated documents inside the car. They identified the victim as a policeman and then asked who Lieutenant Figueiredo was.
Also according to the police version, the lieutenant identified himself and was shot by the group with about 20 shots. Figueiredo Sobrinho died on the spot.
Upon learning of the crime, a police vehicle tried to go to the place where Lieutenant Figueiredo’s body was found, but a tree was crossed on the dirt road, according to the police themselves.
When police tried to clear the road, they were ambushed by the same group, according to the prime minister’s report. The criminals fired dozens of shots. Part of the shots hit Sergeant Rodrigues. Wounded, he tried to escape to the forest and died on the spot. His body was found on Sunday (4).
Another lieutenant, seriously injured with a rifle shot in the back, was rescued and transferred to the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) of the Jacy-Paraná district. From there, he went to an emergency room in Porto Velho. After surgery, his health is stable.
Two other policemen, seriously shot, were rescued, but are not in danger of dying. The others affected also suffered minor injuries.
