The Palmares Foundation removes Benedita’s name from the list of black personalities

The Palmares Foundation took the name of the federal deputy Benedita da Silva (PT) from the list of black personalities. According to the president of the institution, Sérgio Camargo, the decision came about because the PT is responsible for the crime of administrative improbity and its assets were blocked by the courts.

In a note to the newspaper Extra, Benedita, who is a candidate for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, said that she considers the measure an interference by President Jair Bolsonaro in the electoral scene in Rio. Also according to the deputy, she will go to court for the alleged crime of racism.

The decision of the 6th Court of Public Finance of Rio that determined the patrimonial blockade and the breach of the banking and fiscal secrecy of the deputy is from 2015. The Public Ministry accuses the parliamentarian of administrative impropriety as manager of the State Secretariat for Assistance and Rights Social Human Rights, for alleged fraud in agreements between the Darcy Ribeiro Foundation (FUNDAR) and NGOs with the Ministry of Justice.

In the note sent to Extra, the candidate’s team pointed out that “with 40 years of public life, Deputy Benedita da Silva has already been a councilor, deputy, senator, secretary, governor and minister, without ever having been convicted in the first instance” .
