A preliminary survey conducted in South Korea claims that new out of ten Covid-19 patients reported side effects after recovery. The most common symptoms are fatigue, deviations in concentration, loss of smell and taste, and psychological effects related to isolation or hospitalization.
The study evaluated 965 people recovered from the infection in an online questionnaire. Of these, 879 responded that at least one of the symptoms of the disease continued to bother them longer after the virus was absent from the body.
The most common symptom among the reports was fatigue, characterized by excessive tiredness that interferes with daily activities. The symptom was reported by more than 27% of the respondents. Furthermore, 24.6% of the people described an “abnormal lack of concentration” after the illness.
The result was published by Reuters Agency and commissioned by the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KDCA). The complete result, with a detailed analysis, is still under analysis and will be published in specialized journals.
