All the regions and municipalities of the state of São Paulo are in the yellow phase of the SP Plan, the first time since the quarantine progression plan was implemented, announced the governor of the state João Doria (PSDB) in a press conference at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes. this Friday (11).

The announcement came after the progression of the last two regions that were still in the orange phase (the second most restrictive of a total of five phases), Franca and Ribeirão Preto, advanced to the yellow phase.

The progression from the orange to the yellow phase only occurs when there is a significant reduction and in the number of deaths and hospitalizations due to Covid-19.

This is the eighth consecutive week of decline in hospitalizations in the state. The occupancy of ICU beds in the state of São Paulo reached 52.5%, very close to the rate of Greater São Paulo, of 52.2%.

The decline in the bed occupancy rate was also accompanied by a drop in the number of deaths in the fifth consecutive week, according to the governor.

Doria also reported that as of this Friday, the revaluation of the SP Plan will be monthly. However, if any region backs down, cities can downgrade directly to the red phase, so the orange phase will die out.

The next requalification will take place on October 9.

This week, the city entered the slowest stage of new coronavirus cases for the first time. In practice, this means that the number of new confirmed cases has dropped considerably over time, according to the revised Covid-19 Acceleration Monitor from leaf.

The monitoring model used by the leaf It is based on the evolution of the cases in each locality and has as a parameter a period of 30 days, with more weight for the most recent period. Thus, the acceleration of the epidemic is measured, that is, the way in which the number of new cases increases or decreases.

The methodology that may take longer to capture the movements of the pandemic relative to other methods, such as the seven-day moving average, adopted by governments and the media.

On the other hand, this methodology tends to provide more stability to the results.

The update of coronavirus data in the state indicates that 8,055 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours and 234 new deaths. Of all new cases, 66% (5,316) were diagnosed with RT-PCR, 30% (2,417) with rapid tests, and 4% (322) with other diagnostic methods.

According to Jean Gorinchteyn, the state health secretary, the bed occupancy rate in the interior fell, bringing the state rate closer to that of the capital. “We had a greater occupation in recent weeks in the interior ICUs and it has already been approaching and we have reached that 52% with 724 thousand recovered patients”.

The secretary appealed to people to respect the use of the mask, avoid crowds and maintain physical distance.

“In the last few weeks in a row, in terms of both deaths and hospitalizations, we have achieved something unprecedented for 100% of the state’s residents in the yellow phase. But we must not forget: we are still in quarantine. Sanitary rules must be followed, even during free time ”.

The mayor of São Paulo, Bruno Covas (PSDB), who was also present at the press conference, announced that the municipal education department has the network ready to receive students as soon as the municipal health secretariat authorizes the return.

“There are no technical problems within the education department that prevent the return to school in São Paulo.”

Covas also said that next week he will present two more results of the serological survey that the city has been carrying out to find out how many people have contracted the virus in the capital.

The mayor anticipated that there was a 56% increase in the rate of people already contaminated in classes A and B in relation to the previous stage, 4.7%. So far, the survey data shows that 11% of the adult population in São Paulo has contracted Covid-19.
