Also on Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Cláudio Castro met at the Guanabara Palace, the seat of government, also in Laranjeiras, with the Secretary of State for Health, Alex Bousquet.
It was from the investigations into the misappropriation of health resources that the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) discovered what prosecutors called “a sophisticated criminal organization, made up of at least three powerful groups, headed by Governor Wilson Witzel.”
But, according to information from the government press office, the agenda of the meeting between Castro and Bousquet was not the operation, but the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state.
On Monday (31), Castro will meet with the entire secretariat and individually with the secretaries of Finance, Planning, Education and Health again to discuss the economic situation of the state and the protocols for returning to school.
The acting governor’s first agenda took place the previous afternoon, hours after Wilson Witzel was removed from office by decision of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) on suspicion of corruption. He met with the Security Summit.
In a note issued on Friday afternoon (28), Castro said that “he will lead the State with transparency and responsibility so that the economy and citizens are not affected and reiterates the importance of respecting due process, a pillar of democracy.” ” (see note at the end of this article).
Castro was also the subject of an investigation in Operation Tris in Idem, which culminated in the removal of Witzel. However, it was only the subject of search and seizure warrants; his arrest or removal was not determined.
