The São Paulo state government may be close to taking even more restrictive measures to combat covid-19. Government-related sources told the Young bread that the announcement of the total blockade, also known as a blockade, should be enacted as soon as next week.
On Friday (15), the director of the Butantan Institute, Dimas Covas, classified the Morning newspaper the measure as “extreme”. Dimas is also the coordinator of the Covid-19 Contingency Center of the State of São Paulo during the removal of the infectologist David Uip.
“Total blockade can and should be used whenever the growth of the epidemic supplants the health system, especially in relation to ICU beds. When occupancy reaches close to 90%, an alert will go off for these tougher measures. ”
On Wednesday (13), at the press conference given by the state government, Dimas Covas announced the “prerequisites” for the most rigorous measures to be taken. They are: ICU bed occupancy rate greater than 90% and transmission rate greater than one, that is, when each infected person transmits the virus to at least one other person.
Even on the occasion, he warned that the São Paulo metropolitan region was “meeting the criteria to begin considering the possibility” if there was no inflection in the isolation rate and the number of beds occupied.
The latest figures published by the State Government on Thursday (14) show that São Paulo reached 47% in the index of social isolation in the State and 48% in the Greater SP. The number considered ideal for facilitating measurements is at least 55%.
Regarding ICU beds, Health Secretary José Henrique Germann said Thursday that 69% are employed in the state. In Grande SP, the number is worrying: 85.5% is not available.
Also to the Morning newspaper This Friday, Lieutenant Governor Rodrigo García reinforced what the state government is making decisions based on “science, data and the evolution of the epidemic.” “Any indication of tightening will be accompanied by a technical note,” he said.
However, he pointed out that the quarantine in São Paulo was “very well thought out” and did not affect either the construction industry or the industry.
By decision of Governor João Doria and the Covid-19 Contingency Center of the State of São Paulo, the quarantine in the 645 municipalities was extended, last Friday (8), until May 31.
