Health professionals and representatives of health defense organizations are protesting this Saturday morning, 9, at the door of the Federal Hospital of Bonsucesso, in the north of Rio, which will be visited by the Minister of Health, Nelson Teich.
With banners and posters, nine people charge respirators and beds for all patients, in addition to respecting quarantine and distributing funds for the subsistence of the population in need. Some call for the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party). “We are professionals and users of the public health network, and we want a better structure,” said one of the protesters, who preferred not to be identified.
On his second day of commitments in Rio, the minister will visit the hospital, which belongs to the federal government and which has been the subject of a judicial controversy in recent days.
On April 30, the Rio Federal Court ordered the Ministry of Health to replace the hospital’s management, accused of failing to cope with the covid-19 pandemic. In the decision, Judge Carmen Silvia Lima de Arruda, of the 15th Federal Court, considered the management of the unit negligent, designated as the referral hospital for the pandemic. According to the magistrate, there were 30 ICU beds ready and 14 ventilators detained at the hospital.
The Union appealed and on May 5 the Federal Court reversed the decision.
