With the expansion of Covid-19 in Belo Horizonte, which reached 825 confirmed cases, Unimed announced that, starting this Monday (4), the Pedro I Health Promotion Center will function as a hospital unit. In this and other network units in the Metropolitan Region, 220 new beds will be created.

According to Unimed, there will be 160 hospital beds distributed between the new Pedro I unit and the Betim Centro Hospital, which only operated with offices and has now been reactivated with 40 hospital beds.

The Pedro I unit begins with 20 hospital beds, which can be expanded as needed, according to Unimed.

50 new ICU beds for adults and 10 new ICU beds for children will also be created, distributed in the units located on Avenida do Contorno and the São Camilo Children’s Hospital, in addition to the two units in Betim.

To serve the units, more than 350 professionals were hired, according to the cooperative.
