NEW DELHI: As NASA prepares for its return to MoonCountless activities to equip, house, and support future astronauts are underway.
To assist Austronauts while in space, NASA has launched a Lunar Challenge Loo to order new designs for compact toilets. the space The agency said the designs have to be such that while astronauts are in the cabin and out of their space suits, they should be able to use the toilet in the same conditions as in land.
The US space agency has invited designs to develop toilets that work not only in microgravity but also in lunar gravity. Although space baths already exist and are in use (in the International Space Station, for example), are designed for microgravity only.
“These designs can be adapted for use in Artemis moon landers that take us back to the Moon, “NASA said.
NASA’s Human Landing System Program is looking for a next-generation device that is smaller, more efficient, and capable of working in both microgravity and lunar gravity. This challenge includes a “Technical Category” and a “Junior Category”.
