Mozilla, the privacy and security nonprofit and maker of the Firefox browser, is launching its own VPN.
After a beta testing period, the organization is now officially implementing the Mozilla VPN for $ 5 a month. VPNs are used to access information outside the region and protect yourself when browsing public networks. (For more information on why you should use a VPN, see this post.) With Mozilla VPN, a single subscription can be used on up to five devices, there are no bandwidth limitations and it is immediately available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand . The company said it plans to expand to other countries later this year.
Mozilla VPN is currently available for Android and Windows 10, but its iOS version is still in beta. The company notes on its website that support for Linux and Max “is coming soon.”
Mozilla is not far behind the prices of other popular subscription VPNs already on the market. Private internet access, for example, costs around $ 3 per month if you pay per year (or, about $ 10 per month paid monthly). ProtonVPN Plus, meanwhile, costs around $ 9 a month. According to Mozilla, this VPN is meant to be fairly straightforward and easy to navigate, which means it can be a good option for people who are beginning VPN users.
Some of the most important things to consider when buying a VPN is who is behind it, what is logging, and your individual needs in terms of features and speed. Every business needs to make money, and it’s important to consider what an organization gets in exchange for making their product low-cost or free to you.

Mozilla VPN states that it does not record or track any network activity and adheres to Mozilla Data privacy principles. Nor does the VPN “partner with third-party analytics platforms that want to profile what they do online.” the company says. According to CablingMozilla has ordered a third-party audit of the product, with a report on its findings available later this year.
