The Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni, carried out an autopsy on the former royal estate of Tatoi.

Lina Mendoni was in Tatoi to review the progress of the projects that are currently running.

The rescue measures in the palace building will be completed in the current month with waterproofing works on the roof and protective covering of the wooden floors inside the building. At the same time, the cleaning of the entire palace as well as the refuge is completed. The study for the execution of the comprehensive restoration project of the palace is delivered according to the schedule on May 21, the date the project will be auctioned.

At the end of November, the technical reports are presented for inclusion in the current NSRF 2014-2020, on the one hand for the kitchen restoration project, whose study was approved 15 days ago by the Central Council of Modern Monuments, on the other for the preparation of studies for telecommunications, security, waste management and road networks.

At the same time, works have begun to connect the farm with the public service networks. Yesterday, after cooperation with the Forest Service, the logging, dangerous for buildings, began next winter, since in the past serious damage to buildings has been caused by falling trees, due to strong winds and rains.

Maintenance work on all mobile finds progresses at a rapid pace as well as the evacuation of George I’s stable, where household items from the former royal family had been stored for decades.

The large number of boxed items includes vintage furniture, lamps, rugs, and artwork.

Behind the volume of boxes that reached the ceiling, the royal carriages were unveiled. The total number is now eight wagons and four wagons, a kind of light wagon. All cars are in good condition. After the cleaning phase, they will be transferred to a secure toll, which is placed next to that of the cars of the former royal family.

As soon as the evacuation of the barn is completed – it is estimated until December 20, 2020 – the mapping of the building will begin in order to prepare the restoration studies.

In the area near the stable, another toll will be installed immediately, in order to accommodate the objects that have received the first phase of cleaning and maintenance, while at the same time it will house the different maintenance workshops – furniture, crafts, textiles and paper material.

The two tolls, the wagon and household goods depot, as well as the two that have already been installed on the farm for the depot for cars and items to be maintained, are sponsored by AMKE AIGEA.

Especially with regard to paper material, digitization work has already begun on part of the heritage archive, a project that was recently included for funding in the current NSRF.

At the same time, the dining room is being evacuated, where until recently the cars were located, in order to start salvage works and prepare restoration studies for the building, which presents serious static problems.

At the autopsy of the estate, Minister Lina Mendoni was accompanied by the Secretary General of Culture George Didaskalou, the head of the General Directorate for the Restoration of Museums and Technical Works Amalia Androulidaki, the head of the Directorate for the Preservation of the Old and New and Modern Monuments Ioanna Karani and officials from the Ministry of Culture.
