The new measures to curb the coronavirus in the areas of greatest vigilance (orange) and highest risk (red) come into effect from 6 a.m. on Saturday (10/24). In these regions, as of tomorrow, traffic is prohibited from 00:30 to 05:00 in the morning, while the use of a mask is now mandatory outside.
Only medical emergencies and employees, who must have a certificate from their employer, will be exempt from the curfew.
According to information from SKAI, in the orange and red areas, students in schools will wear masks and during breaks, while the possibility of introducing short “mask breaks” during which students can remove them is being considered. Students will not wear a mask during the exercise.
In general, sports activities, both organized and individual jogging, will continue to be carried out without the use of a mask.
Normally, food will be distributed during curfews from 00:30 to 5:00. However, delivery employees will need to have a certificate from their employer.
With the implementation of the new measures, the controls for their implementation will be radical. Violators will face fines, the amount of which has yet to be established. However, it is estimated that it will amount to at least 150 euros, as was the case during the quarantine.
During the deputy minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalia’s briefing at 6:00 p.m., a number of other details about the implementation of the new measures are expected to be clarified, such as what will be applied to the mask in the car or if someone walks alone in a deserted area.
